Why I would not buy a Mi3

Before just ranting about my personal view about this wonder phone, let me just write down why it is creating such buzz.

The price at which Chinese company Xiaomi is marketing its flagship phone Mi3 (Specs are damm good! on paper) really make this a mission impossible for other brand.

Just to give preview it contain
  • Qualcomm snapdragon 800 2.3 Ghz quad-core
  • Andrino 330 graphics
  • 2 Gb ddr 3 ram
  • 8 mm thickness
  • 441 ppi display. (Damm it!)
  • 13mp camera, f 2.2 !
  • And it is prices just Rs 13999

Just to give you comparison figure
Specs are comparable to Sony's 6 month old flagship phone Xperia Z1. Which just beating it just in Camera and water proof-ness and it is priced like Rs 36000, almost trice of MI3.

Mi3 already created thunder in mobile market in India, and though big brand like Sony, Samsung and LG might survive it for a while, its Micromax, Lava and Karbon who really need to worry, Moto G and Moto E already hit them hard which were really moderate specs phones, but Mi3 is a true high spec phone at this price can put their face in mud. They have to shed Mediatek processor and bring out the big guns.

Mi3 only seller in India is flipkart and it is releasing limited stock and after getting the  first reviews out it is selling out stocks in matters of second. I think flipkart has though this  through this time and unlike Moto G delivery disasters, which for few unfortunate ones took a month, in this case only few are able to place order, but who ever are getting though, are getting Mi3 in one or two days. 1600+ reviews of Mi3 is giving it 4.4 starts, and counting up, really makes it a first choice among the users.

But why I would not buy a Mi3 :

  • I am a hard core android fan, though Mi3 is a android phone it tries to Mimic iOS, which is really disappointment for a user like me.
  • Data privacy issue: Well this phone directly belong to Main Land China, with all it server storing your personal data there, well something not seems right.
  • Storing your personal data for their pleasure, read this F-Secure Post.
  • No expandable memory card : This might not be a big issue for most of the users but (google even reduce much of its SD Card support in 4.4) but for me I take all my music library with me, 12 gb user available space will just not do.
  • If you are looking for a good camera phone your search is still not over: Though Mi3 offer 13 Mega pix and aperture value of 2.2, it is still not the best camera in the market, very good for its price, but it will not replace your pocket digital camera for sure.
  • The first batch only available in Grey Colour in India: Remember the time when Motorola V3 took over the world, everyone was having the same phone. Well that will just not do with me.
  • It is 4.4 star because of it price tag, but if you have money to spend, go for something bigger, like Moto X, The quality of the phone do rime (I will say above) with the price tag, but do not accept it to be premium one.

If I have to go in this range I will stick out to better android Xperiance of Moto G, rather than going in for shiny spec of Mi3. But this is a personal view, for all those who don't give a shit about Android or where your data goes, this is a must buy.
