Why Apple will not dump WiFi in iPhone 7 for LiFi

As Apple release a new device every year it has a bad reputation for not maintaining backward compatibility with the existing hardware devices, with changing chargers pins, every iPhone users we have in office (and we have lot) at one point is asking for iPhone charger cable with new pin or new new pin or there might be new new new one out already.

Now it is a good thing not to get stagnated with the technology, because change is a way of moving forward, but lets face it, not everyone runs at a same pace and all the software Linux/Windows wouldn't have seen the success, if devices were not backward compatible, in fact the major back lashing Windows Vista faced was not its bad performance, but that it was not backward compatible with most of the existing devices, which Microsoft somewhat improved with service pack and by the time Windows 7 arrived most of the hardware had move forward too.

But Apple can till now get away with that, because any cable iPhone support comes with the phone in the box and only discomfort you will be having that carrying that light cable around, or you can buy a compatible cable at half the price of the original cable and that will work just fine.

What LiFi ?

Essentially is a internet signal embedded in light and your phone the transponder will send the internet signal with subtle changes in light and the receiver will read that signal. The positive thing about that technology is that this can be achieve with any LED light bulb. Amazing! means any iPhone owner already have this LED technology at their home. LiFi has a better  much greater bandwidth and if you are one of those you count radiation like people count calories, you can actually avoid it.

So great we already have technology in our homes with let us experience, this great internet experience via light, right? Well technically having a LED light bulb at home and saying that I have have LiFi ready equipment is like saying that I have antenna and now I am capable of broadcasting WiFi. LED is just a enabler not a proper equipment needed behind. and using LiFi means actually sending the signal to every LED bulb at home using wires because light have a visibility range limit and if you are using WiFi to distributing signal to light bulbs, then whats the point.

In other words to have LiFi enable home/office you have to do a major rewiring of you electrical connection, which I assume is something world would not be doing in near iPhone 7ish future, so unless Apple whats to loose its 95% of regular customer and want to retain 5% of tech enthusiast customer, apple will have to include the WiFi receiver in their next generation of iPhones.
